New beginnings

Picture

Everyone has times where we feel we need a fresh start. A new beginning. There are many ways you can call for a new beginning, once you recognize and acknowledge an ending in your life.

*A pair of lodestones placed together in a central area of a room will call for the attraction of a new lover.

*If you see a shooting stars and comets together in the sky, wishing upon the Sky God’s protection and blessing for any wishes you make.

*Written symbols, such as “Beth” from the Druidic tree alphabet, or the Greek letter Alpha, will encourage new beginnings. Write them in places of significance, such as over a written wish or trace them in the air in a space where new beginnings are being called for. You could also include them on a talisman.

* The cowry shell is sacred to the Goddess(also shown in my profile picture) and empowers wishes for love, friendship, and family. Decorate a small pouch with cowry shells and drop your wish inside.

*A bowl of seeds(such as sesame, sunflower, or pumpkin) with a wish tucked into them, placed on an altar, or in the kitchen windowsill, will encourage growth of whatever you called for.

* A birch broom propped up beside a doorway will encourage the old to depart and the new to arrive, and will also provide protection for  your home.

* Write a wish on a piece of paper. Fold it or roll it and place the paper within the cone of a white lily flower. This bloom is sacred to Ostara, the goddess of birth and new life.

* When you are seeking new work or prosperity opportunities, turn a silver coins in your pocket on the first night of the new moon to invite growth n your chances.

Please make sure these charms are  not always used for personal gain, they can also help achieve a higher personal  magickal level.

Pagan Sabbats

Picture
Holidays:

There are 8 pagan holidays. They can be split into two sections. The greater sabbats and the lesser sabbats, The Greater sabbats include, Samhain, Beltane, Imbolc, and Lughnasadh. The Lesser sabbats include, Midsummer, Mabon, Yule, and Ostara.

In the old days several covens would come together to celebrate. There could be up to several hundred witches at on e gathering. Whether you are learning, solitary or in a practicing coven, you can celebrate. The key to this is CELEBRATION. This is a time of merriment, feast, not complex magical work. Light magick’s should be done, or honoring rituals, healing as well.

Samhain is the time to rid of weakness. This is celebrated on October31st. You may hear this called Feast of the dead, Hallowmas, November Eve, Halloween, Feast of souls. Samhain marks the Sun God and his travel the land of Young. There he awaits rebirth of the Mother Goddess at Yule.

Beltane is a time of respecting and dwelling in the bountiful nature blossoming in springtime. This is celebrated on April 30th or May 1st. Beltane may be called, May Eve, Cethsamhain, Roodmas. Beltane celebrate the union between the God and Goddess. The mating or marriage of the two, linking together for the summer months.

Imbolc is a time to recover in health, revive plant life, etc. Imbolc is celebrated on February 2nd. This is also called, Feast of pan, Feast of lights, Candlemas, Oimelc. Imbolc celebrates the first stiinga of spring and the recovery of the goddess from giving birth to the Sun (God) at Yule.

Lughnasadh is a time of summer harvest. This is celebrated on August 1st. Also known as August Eve, Lammas, Feast of Grain. This marks the first harvest when the Earth’s fruits are cut and stored for the dark winter months and when the God mysteriously weakens as the days grow shorter.

Midsummer is a time for magick’s. This is celebrated on June 21st. This is also referred to as Litha or Summer Solstice. Midsummer marks the poin in the year when the Sun is symbolically at the height of it’s powers, meaning the God is as well. The longest day of the year.

Mabon is the time of the second harvest. Usually celebrated around September 21st. Maboon is also known as the Autumn Equinox. Nature is preparing for winter. Mabon is a vestige of ancient harvest rituals, once universal,

Yule is the time of joy and celebration throughout the cold and harsh winter. Yule is celebrated on December 21st.Also known as Winter Solstice. This marks the rebirth of the Sun God from the Earth Goddess.

Ostara is the time when life returns to the cold. It is usually celebrated on March 21st, otherwise known as the Spring Equinox. This is a fire and fertility festival, celebrating the return of the Sun God, and the fertility of the Earth, or the Goddess.

That is a summary of all of the Sabbats. I hope you enjoyed J

Once you return the place where you began walking (which should be in front of your altar),and pick up your north candle, which is Earth.

Stand in the Northern position, and say this: (this is a sample of an evocation of the element Earth)
''North, element of Earth. You bring strength and wisdom into our lives. You nurture and protect. I call thee spirit of North. Please join me and lend me the power over Earth. Blessed be.''

As you do this, remember to light your candle. You may return it to your altar or leave it on the ground or on a stand, however is more appropriate.

Pick up the Eastern candle, which is Air. Sample evocation:
'East, element of Air. You bring me inspiration, upon intellect. You blow through the course of our lives, and give us life itself. I call thee spirit of East. Please join me and lend me the power of Air. Blessed be.''

Pick up the Southern candle, which is fire. Sample Evocation: South, element of Fire. You Bring passion and energy to our bodies and minds. Make sure you are turning in the directions of the element and lighting your candle. I trust you all have enough common sense for that.

*Note: It is optional to call forth Akasha, the fifth element, commonly known as spirit.

Spirit: ''You render the elements called forth, and you represent the goddess/god the dwells inside me. You are the source of the good and pure. The dark and light that make up my mind, soul and body. I call thee spirit to join me. Blessed be''

Walk around you circle and say, “The holy circle has been cast. No energies shall leave nor enter unless I permit them too. Let the forces within be under my control. Blessed by the elements, my circle is cast and the magic’s done within are blessed as well.”

Perform the magick’s you wish.

Pick up the Water candle, and dismiss the element. ‘West, element of water, who produces emotion and intuition. You cleanse and purify our bodies with every drink. Thank you for joining me and lending the energies of water. Farewell and blessed be.'' Extinguish the candle.

Pick up the Fire candle and dismiss the element.
''South, element of fire, who delivers passion and creates the heat that allows us survival. Thank you spirit of the South for joining me and lending me the energies of Fire. Farewell and Blessed Be,” Extinguish the candle.

Pick up the Air candle, and dismiss the element. ‘east, element of Air, whom brings us motivation and inspiration. May you be with me always. Thank you spirit of the East, for joining me and lending me the energies of Air. Farewell and blessed be.'' Extinguish the candle.

Pick up the Earth candle and dismiss the element. ''North, element of Earth you have brought me your wisdom, expressed your strength. Be with me always. Thank you spirit of the North, for joining me and lending my the energies of Earth. Farewell and Blessed be.'' Extinguish the candle.

Spirit’s Dismissal:

''Spirit, element of peace, You are released for the circle, but shall you forever be with me and dwell in the essence of myself. Blessed be.''

Walk Deosil around the circle.

Close the circle by saying,” Thank you for supporting my magic’s. Let the energies be released and roam free. May the circle be opened again, and forever remain a holy, sacred place. Blessed be.”

You have now completed the course for basic circle casting. Well Done.

Mary worth legends:

Picture
The truth of Mary Worth:

Many of you have heard versions of the "Bloody Mary". Which one do you believe??

According to lore, Mary Worth, also known as bloody mary, is an evil spirit who cannot find peace. She is said to appear in a mirror when summoned.

The origins of the Mary Worth story may point back to seventeenth century Massachusetts. Mary Worth was a young girl whose face was covered in hideous dark red scars that were either an accident of birth or caused by an injury. The village children teased her and followed her in the streets calling out "bloody mary" over and over again.

During a witch scare, Mary was accused of witchcraft and hanged. According to lore, one night, not long after Mary's execution, a group of children decided to play a game of conjuring. They set a mirror against the wall and began to chant 'Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary," Suddenly Mary appeared in the mirror. Her face had become even more hideous and her hands turned to claws. She reached through the looking glass to tear at the children's faces. Shrieking and screaming, the terrified children ran out of the room.

Although Bloody Mary disappeared that day, it is said that her spirit remains, waiting for someone to stand in front of a mirror abd chant her name.

In other versions of the legend, the summoner must say 'Bloody Mary, I killed your baby." In these variants, Bloody Mary, is believed to be a spirit of a mother who murdered her children, or a woman who was murdered shortly before her wedding. On the other hand, it has been suggested that the story about taunting Bloody Mary and her baby may relate tenulously to folklore about Mary I, Queen of England from 1553-58, who became known as bloody mary for her persecution of Protestants. The Queens life was marked by a number of miscarriages or false pregancies; if she had succeeded in having a child, this would hvae established a Roman Catholic succession and the continuance of religious persecution after her death.

The mirror ritual by which bloody mary is summoned may also relate to a form of divination involving mirrors and darkness that was once performed on Halloween. Young women were encouraged to walk up a flight of stairs backwards, holding a candle and a handmirror, in a darkened house. As they gazed into the mirror, they were able to catch a glimpse of their future husband's face. There was however, a chance that they would see a skull faced head, indicating that they were to die, before they got married.

(The Element Encyclopedia of Ghosts and hauntings)

The story I was always told, was that Mary was a very sickly girl, who lived in Massachusetts. Her father was a doctor, but Mary's body was induced with a high raging fever, beyond his control. Her body was stone- and her father believed her to be dead,as she has no pulse. He decided to bury her in the family cemetary. Mary's mother, however, refused to believe that she was dead. Because Mr. Worth pitied his wife in her grief, he tied a string around Mary's wrist and attached it to a bell, which was above ground. If mary woke up, she would shake her wrist and the bell would ring. They went back to the house, and during the night they heard nothing but the broken mother's sobs. The next norning Mr. Worth's wife went out to check the grave and the bell was over turned. She rushed to tell her husband, and he dug up the grave. Mary had indeed awakened, and was buried alive in the coffin. The 'bloody mary' name comes from the part of the storyt where when she woke up, she tried to escape the coffin, by tearing at the roof of it with her nails. Her nails became bloody, and stuck in the lid of the coffin, causing the whole scene gruesome and bloody. She died of suffocation.

Legend has it- Mary's body was forever entombed but her spirit was not. Her spirit is out ot seek vengence.

Whether you believe any of this or not- depends on you:) But i thought it was just a way to pass the time with some olden legends!

Basic Incenses:

*Note: I am only putting the most common incenses.

Musk - Burn this for courage and vitality, and for love. ( I use it for confession as well.)

Cinnamon: to attract love and money

Asafetida: to expel negative entities, and used for exorcisms

Bay: for health, abundance, and prosperity

Patchouli: good luck, relaxer, all purpose

Storax: To attract powerful spirits, used in meditation

Sage: Used for purifaction, protection, and conjuring

Mryyh: Used for purifaction, clearing auras, spirituality, and healing.

Pine: Burn this to replel negative entities or forces. Also used for strength.

Temple and Copal: Are typically used in a ceremonial worship, or dedications. Commonly used at sabbats.

Lavendar: Used for cleasing, releases negative emotions, strengthens auras and is linked to several goddess's.

Incenses come in many different forms and varieies. Cones, powers, sticks, oils, etc.

I recently just learned, from my journey about several different ways and herbs that can be contributed to make your own herbal incense.
A Native American tribal shaman, taught me how to Tie bunches of dried herbs into a cloth sachet, flammable cloth, made out of cedars, and bark. They light the herbs, and use the incense, much as we would smudge something. There are many variations of the herbs blended together. They used, sage, lavendar, cinnamon, Bay, cedar, copal, and a few others. They dry the herbs, then bless them in a simple chant. Just thought i would share for those interested:)

Invoking/ Evoking:

First off, what is the difference between evoking and ivoking?MOst people say ''Invoking'' Without knowing what it means.
Invoking is where you invoke a deity(god or goddess), and the entity steps into your body. You become them, and they become you, and you absorb the energies they leave you. Much like when casting a circle and calling the quarters. As youc all the quarters, you become each element. There is nothing similar to invoking a goddess or god, as it gives you an afterfeeling that you can't describe.
Evoking on the other hand, is much different. This is more commonly done, though it is seldom said. Evoking is the act of inviting a deity or element to come to your circle, Not be within you. Through evoking you feel the elements more than you would feel the entity of the god or goddess. By inviting them, keep in mind, invitations can be turned down. Affinites for a certain element make themselves known, by inviting them, or evoking them.
How to Evoke:
Evoking is the more common of the two, and is the most easiet for beginners to casting or magicks in general.

Inviting the elements:
North:
Basic Circle Casting:

Concentrate, Concentration is one of the many steps to mastering casting the circle.

Items helpful when casting CIRCLE:

-1 green candle to represent Earth

-1 red candle to represent Fire

-1 white candle to represent Air

-1 Blue candle to represent Water

-1 Purple candle to represent Spirit

*make sure to get the correct colored candle for the magical work you will be doing inside the circle ready

Other elemental items may be I place of the candles, o you may set it up like this:

-1 cup of consecrated Earth

-1 chalice of consecrated Water

-1 consecrated athame (fire)

North dismissal:
''North, element of Earth you have brought me your wisdom, expressed your strength. Be with me always. Thank you spirit of the North, for joining me and lending my the energies of Earth. Farewell and Blessed be.''

East:
''East, element of Air. You bring me inspiriation, upon intellect. You blow through the course of our lives, and give us life itself. I call thee spirit of East. Please join me and lend me the power of Air. Blessed be.''
East Dismissal:
''East, element of AIr, whom brings us motivation and inspiration. MAy you be with me always. Thank you spirit of the East, for joining me and lending me the energies of Air. Farewell and blessed be.''

South:
South, element of Fire. You Bring passion and energy to our bodies and minds. You generate the light that lets us see, the warth, that lets us live. I call thee spirit of the SOuth. Please join me and lend me the power of fire. Blessed be.''
SOuth dismissal:
''SOuth, element of fire, who delivers passion and creates the heat that allows us survival. Thank you spirit of the South for joing me and lending me the nergies of Fire. Farewell and blessed be.''

West:
West, element of water. You feed our emotions and intuition. You wash and quench our bodies and thirst. I call thee spirt of West. Please join me and lend me the power of water.Blessed be.''
West dismissal:
''West, element of water, who produces emotion and intuition. You cleanse and purify our bodies with every drink. Thank you for joining me and lending the energies of water.Farewell and blessed be.''

*NOte: It is optional to call forth Akasha, the fifth element, commonly known as spirit.

Spirit: ''You render the elemnets called forth, and you represent the goddess/god the dwells inside me. You are the source of the good and pure. The dark and light that make up my mind, soul and body.I call thee spirit to join me. Blessed be''

Spirit dismissal:
''Spirit, element of peace, You are released for the circle, but shall you foever be with me and dwell in the essence of myself. Blessed be.''
How to invoke a god or goddess:

It is very dangerous to your being if you INvoke all elements then a god/dess. The charge you get for the god/dess is enough, by itself. This is a warning that if you invoke all 5 elemnets and a deity, you are GOING to do harm to yourself being as charged up with 6 magickal entities at once.

It is commonly done in covens that you will have 5 other people with you there to invoke all elements, while you invoke goddess. While working as an individual,it is preferred by most, that they evoke the elements and inkoke the god/dess.

HEre is an example of invoking a sacred entity.

''Geb, Great Lord of Earth & plains
Lord of mountains tall.
Lord of forests & green hills
Lord of the rolling sands
Geb we honour Thee
Great spirit of Earth, hear our call!
Great Geb we honour Thee!
May your presence be felt by all
on this night of nights.''
Ivocation can be as simple as that. They can be more or less, it is up to you.
During an invokation wine is commonmly used, or left as an offering. Before invoking a entity, i suggest reading up of hte vertian god/dess. That will tell you want to leave as an offering, or if there needn't be an offering at all.

Ivocations are traditionally written, to match the needs of yourself, and the entity whom you are invoking.
When Invoking, You don't want to invoke multiple god/dess's WHO don't get along. For instance, Set and Osiris. Folklore tells us the Set killed Osiris. Would you want to invoke them both? ANd feel the hatred between them?
Or in Scandinavian mythology, the two worlds fight, the aesir, and the vanir. Invoking, persay Thor of Aesir, and Njord of the Vanir, could result in a feud. Because of the ancient history, and mythology, and the Aesir- Vanir war, despite how the war ended, the gods may have a personal grudge against the other.
So, be wise when invoking, I am not saying all god/dess's have a grudge against another, but be sure to check the lore behind them, before invoking.

Another thing, mixing deities acccording to patheon, does not matter really. Norse, greek, egyptian, it doesn't matter. As long as you know the history you are sure to find out if they don't sgree with each other ;)

On evoking, When you evoke a deity it is not always 100%, on the table. Like i said before, invitations may be turned down. But when the are not, it is amazing to feel that the god/dess wants to be there with you.Though deies are mainly invoked, Evoking a godess may go like this :

''Lady Hecate, guardian of the crossroads. Queen of The Dead, Queen of life. Protector of night, ruler of lost souls. Here me this hour. Please join me in my circle and bless the magicks cast within.''
It is as simple as that.

Best of Luck, and be Safe.

Importance of altars:

Picture
Whether you have a indoor, outdoor, temporary, or permanent altar, this post will help you.

Altars can be dedicated to a deity, be focused on a specific culture, or generally for magickal work.Whateter altar you chose, you should care and cleanse it frequently. The difference between a permanet and tempoary altar is a temporary altar can be set up wherever you need to do a spell. A permanent altar needs to be cleansed more, than a temp. altar, also perm, altars are usually tucked into an area of the house that isn't bothered.

Altars can be A wooden stool or table, a stone bench, top of a dresser, a shelf, or any surface at all, wide enough to hold symbolic objects and implements.

Outdoor altars are the easiest to keep clean, due to the moon and sun's rays shining on it and keep ing it cleansed. But you have to be careful about what you have on your outdoor altar. Weathering can happen to wooden or metal tools, so you best keep them inside where nothing can happen to them. Also evokin gthe elements are extremely easy, dirt for earth, windchimes for air, candle or torch for fire, and a birdbath, or shells for water.

A traditional altar faces north, but they can actually face any direction, as long as you know what direction it is facing.
Permanent altars are usually against the wall, as temp. altars you can walk all the way around. Rituals can work safely either way.
On a typical altar you should have something to represnt each element. A chalice for water, and athame for fire, a wand for air. and a stone for earth. Typically there is a candle for a god and a goddess, and the spell candle. A pentacle, spell ingredients, and Book of shadows are usually in the middle or the altar. Not all altars are set up like this. MAny contain statuary, or symbols.
My altar is against the wall and facing north. I have a scrying mirror, hanging above my altar, and along the wall I have a orange candle for fire, a chalice of water, for water, incense for air, and a cup of cemetary dirt for earth. I have a statue of hecate, in the right corner, and a torch-lit lamp in the other. I set up my altar according to the spell, or work i will be doing. Also known as dressing your altar.

Altar cloths are a big or small part of your work depending on your beliefs. Chromo therapy come in handy here, believe it or not. You may have a new color every season, changing on sabbats as well. You also may match up a color to how you are feeling. If you want peacce and tranquility, for meditation or such, blue would be a good color. Focusing on herbal magicks, dark grren would be the best. You can match the colors of your altar cloth how ever you want, it doesn't negatively affect your rituals.

Placing a correctly matched colored piece of cloth to the affected area can help a person relax, and/or feel better. You make drink juices or liquids of certain colors linked to the illness they are supposed to heal. The liquid is poured in a bowl or bottle the same colorand places in the windowsill or outside, during the moon, or sun, to me charged.
*Note: I do this either in the Waxing moon, or the full moon.

Colored bottles are used to hold a juice of some sort of a philter.

This information was founded from ''Book of Shadows'' By Migene Wippler( I used it as a reference point) And my own knowledge.

Scandinavian mythology:

The Gods and goddess of Scandinavian mythology represent the best and worst of human nature.
The god/esses started off divided into separate groups, The Aesir and the Vanir.

Though they were are strong, and knowledgeable, they stood to preserve order among ''worldly chaos''.
The Aesir were warrior Gods, and the Vanir were fertility gods. There were 12 gods, and 13 goddesses total.

The war between the Aesir and the Vanir
Many people say that the first world war was between the Aseir and the Vanir. The war started over the fierce Aseir killing a witch named Gullveig because of her greed. The VAnir, who were friends of the witch, got very angry, and declared revenge on the Asier.
They went back to their homeland, gathered strength and prepared for battle.Word travelled to the Aesir. When they heard that the ''weaker half'' declared war, they also begin to prepare for battle.
Odin got involved and started the war, but trowing his enchanted spear, Gungnir in to the crowd of the Vanir. Like in most wars, they fought back and forth for sometime and lost many lives, and large pieces of their realms. They both realized that they had equal stregth and niether would win. The gods agreed on a truce, and gods of both sides, sent ''gestures of goodwill''.
They separated their realms, and moved their homelands. But both sides worked side by side.
About Odin:
Odin is the Leaded of the Aesir. He is considered the wisest and oldest god, who has infinite knowledge.
He was fasinated with gaining more knowledge, so he went as far as raising serresses and seers from the dead to learn their secrets, and learned runes, and the extremity of killing himself just to rise, so he had infinite occult knowledge.
His is often described as the god of wisdom, war, and poetry. He is known for his blue cloak, and his spear Gungnir, which was enchanted.ODin was often seen with a gold arm ring. He was a excellent necromancer, and was very feared.
Odin has many son's one whom is Thor, the second norse patheon.Thor is know for his order, and remaining calm in chaos. HE was one for the law and worked well to inforce it.Thor carries his hammer, Mjollnir, and his chariot pulled bt goats. Thor was a master of Atmokinesis(as corrected by darkermaster on Spellsofmagic.com), especially lightning.
